A slow dialogue
The paintings came out of a frustration with the early digital composites (constructed from photographs of discarded objects and accidental marks made on the city) – I didn’t have enough control over the images, so I took elements from the digital works and composed sketches from them that I then painted on canvas.
As time went on and the pile of canvases grew, I mostly abandoned the sketches and began direct painting.
